Kvalvika
Have you ever dreamed of spending a night in a tent on a heavenly beach with the sound of the waves? Today we are taking you on a journey to a place which offers just that. It is located in one of Norway's most known geographic regions, the Lofoten archipelago.
One of the eighteen already mentioned Nasjonaleturistveger runs through the entirety of the archipelago. While following the route you will see many amazing views. However, in order to get to the place mentioned in today's post, you need to turn right after the town of Ramberg (in the direction towards the archipelago, town of Å). The place is the beach named Kvalvika.
The hike starts at Fredvang. You can find both free parking (a bit further from the beginning of the trail) and several paid car parking places there. The first stage of the trail runs along flat terrain among fields and sheep farms typical of Norway. Then the ascent to the pass with the pond Forsvatnet begins, from where you can decide whether you want to continue directly to Kvalvika, or ascend the peak Ryten (543 m above sea level)
We went to Ryten because its impressive view of Kvalvika is a great prelude to visiting the beach. However, such a trip requires, of course, to be in good shape!
Heading towards the beach, you still have a fairly steep descent ahead of you, but a great reward awaits you at the bottom. The white, wide beach full of fine sand is surrounded by steep peaks. Those brave enough will certainly want to take a bath - I'm calling them brave, because remember that the water of the Norwegian Sea north of the Arctic Circle is certainly not warm! :)
